People who know me would have heard of my inside joke, "Advanced po kasi ako sa lahat".
I always tell that to people whenever I see them about to comment between my age and my eldest child. I am now 43 and my son is 25 and turning 26 in March. I gave birth to my son when I was 17, the age when most people are just starting to enjoy their teens. While other young ladies were busy preparing for their debut party, I transitioned from a freshman college student to a student-mother.
Although I have been supported by family and friends, I would still want to share this thought with people, especially the young adults out there: Go Slow, Take Time.
Take time to enjoy life. Enjoy childhood, enjoy being a teenager, enjoy schooling, enjoy working, enjoy living with your family, friends, and significant others.
Time however we see it (as real or as a concept) is something common for everyone. Wherever a person is born, regardless of the time zone, we have 24 hours a day to spend in a day. Our happiness can be indirectly related to how we spend our waking time. Do we spend it with people who matter and doing something we love or doing something worthwhile? Or do we spend more than a third of our day with toxic people who are energy vampires because we believe that we have no other choice? Do we spend time doing something we do not even like but do it anyway because that's what other people expect us to do? Do we spend time doing something that will help benefit our soul or do we just choose to exist?
On the day that you are reading this, may you be able to take time to reflect on how you are spending your time. It is with the hope that moving forward, we mindfully take our time to enjoy living the life we are creating.
