Hallyu refers to the Korean wave (mostly known through the influence of their entertainment and beauty industry) that has reached and influenced people from across the globe regardless of gender, age, or status.  I am one of those who tried not to get caught by this phenomenon but at the end of the day, I found myself immersed in their dramas, swooning over actors, impressed by the versatility of some artists, and even a fan of their skincare products!  This is one layer of my personality that I have tried to hide thinking that other people will find it shallow, especially at my age.  But come to think of it, being a Hallyu Enthusiast helped me cope with the most boring of days and even look forward to something even if I thought that I was merely existing for the sake of it.  Meeting my favorite actors and new friends added to this wonderful experience of fangirling!
